I LOOOVE Spring! Spring to me means cleaning things out. There is nothing better then getting junk out of the way. Whether it's junk from your yard, closets, garage, clubhouse, under cabinets or your neighbors yard. It's all great!!
This yard had a ton of junk, all collected during the late fall to the end of winter. Our neighbor has a weak tree. On each windy day I wonder if that's the day I will come home to find a crashed garage or playground. So far nothing serious just branches of all sizes. We are lucky everyone knows that when the wind blows get out of the playground. Between his tree and the other three huge trees this yard is covered in leaves.
Usually after each clean up we find the hydrangeas, rosemary, thyme, blackberries, raspberries, mint, strawberries, snowball, lilacs, all the other perennials, sage, parsley and chives all waking up for the new season. However this season was very upsetting. The only thing alive was parsley and chives! With everything occurring at the end of the growing season, nothing received care. Okay maybe not everything has died off but close to it. We only have three perennials that survived. I have treated the berries and cut them back, in hopes they will make it.
I know it's just parsley and chives but I am out of both. Yes I could just go to the store and buy some. It just doesn't taste the same. Once you have had it fresh out of the garden it's very difficult to go back to store purchased. Normally we have stored enough to last us until late spring. We ran out in February and that's with us being wise with what we had. Now we have enough to last us into the new growing season. By the way don't dry parsley or chives...just freeze.
