How do you chop onions?

Around our house we start the kids cooking young.  Which brings many great benefits! Dominic, our oldest, pretty much just makes what ever he wants.  It makes me laugh to see him directing his friends what to get and do in the kitchen.  The down fall is that I walk around picking up dirty dishes, glasses and napkins all over the house and outside.  Those stinky boys sneak food every where. I do mean stinky boys.

The story I want to share is about my youngest, Tatianna.  It's all about onions.  I don't have a problem working with onions of any sort.  I have several friends who do all sorts of crazy things when working with onions.  My daughter is one of those crazies.  Each time she is asigned the job she appears like this:

Now the aprons do change around.  I guess she was painting before cooking.

I can't help but laugh each time.  You can't see the nose pin in the picture but she does use one.  I believe she was four when she first came up with this.  She wears the goggles to protect her eyes and they are always some kind of color. Tatianna believes that the colored ones help block the sting.  She does have to take several breaks to clear the goggles due to " my eyes sweat".  You would think she would remove the protection once the cutting was done. However she keeps it on until the cooking is down. Apparently we don't know when the stingy of the onion might come back.  That is also the reason why she does NOT eat onions.  Which she only picks out when she has cooked them.  All the other times she just reminds us that onions are not her favorite.  I honestly believe she thinks there are no onions in the other dishes.
